Australian Karate Federation (AKF)
As a member of the AKF, Funakoshi Karate Australia is linked to over 160 countries
worldwide as the AKF is the Australian member of the World Karate Federation (WKF). The WKF has full Olympic recognition and conducts the official Senior and Junior/Cadet World Championships on alternate years.
Another benefit is ready access to coaching and officiating courses and subsequent
qualifications. The AKF is the Government recognised body to conduct karate NCAS (coaching) and NOAS (officiating) accreditation courses.
Funakoshi Karate New Zealand (FKNZ)
In January 2002, Funakoshi Karate was introduced to New Zealand by Sensei Luke
Meintjes (3rd Dan). Funakoshi Karate New Zealand is a Recognised style of Karate New Zealand (KNZ), and by association the World Karate Federation.
Karate NZ is a voluntary, non profit organization committed to fostering and developing
opportunities for all New Zealanders to participate in traditional and sports karate at all levels. Karate NZ is recognized by the Hillary Commission, the New Zealand Sports Foundation, Coaching New Zealand and the New Zealand Sports assembly as the national governing body for Karate in New Zealand. Karate NZ aims to promote and facilitate the development of the highest standards in, and the fullest understanding of traditional and sport karate. |
